Join the Invermay School Cross Country Team and Get Up Run!
The Cross Country program is open to all students ranging in grades from Grade 3 to Grade 12. It is for athletes that are interested in challenging their endurance and fitness skills through running. The Cross Country Season begins during the first week of September and the regular season ends the first week of October. Athletes will be training for varied terrain including running through trees and over roots and up steep hills. Participants must train to run in varied weather conditions. Practices run from 3:10 – 4:15pm according to a schedule determined by the coach. There are three meets held each year - Deer Park, Saltcoats and a Districts Meet. The cross country meets are large events of 600 to 1000 competitors. Students in grade 9 or older may be eligible to participate in the Provincial meet in mid- October.
Participants under 11 years of age will be training for a distance run of 2km, students ages 11-13 years of age are training for a 3km run. Senior runners (ages 14 – 16) run distances ranging from 3km – 6km depending on age and gender. Age categories and distances are determined at the first practice.

Pee Wee under 13 3 km
Bantam under 14 3 km
Midget under 15 3 km (female) 4 km (male)
Junior under 16 4 km (female) 5 km (male)
Senior under 17 5km (female) 6 km (male)
