February is Indigenous Storytelling Month!

February 01, 2021

indigenous storytelling 2.pngFirst Nations people have long passed on knowledge from generation to generation through oral traditions, including storytelling.

Storytelling is a traditional method used to teach about cultural beliefs, values, customs, rituals, history, practices, relationships, and ways of life. First Nations storytelling is a foundation for holistic learning, relationship building, and experiential learning. Traditionally, it is during the winter months that First Nations storytelling occurs.

Throughout the month of February, Good Spirit School Division schools have the opportunity to virtually hear from Knowledge Keepers and members of the Indigenous Community.
